What did I do today?  Let’s look at my new achievements!

Well, actually, the first thing I accomplished doesn’t get an achievement, even though it really should.  I maxed out fishing at 450 while trying for a turtle mount.  Nope, didn’t get the mount yet.  While I was doing that though, somebody in guild asked if anybody wanted in on a Sarth 3D raid.  Hell yes, I did.  Well, Sarth 3D turned into Sarth 0D with 20 people, so we got the Heroic: Less Is More achievement.  First thing we rolled on was the Large Satchel of Spoils.

Yeah, a perfect 100.  Inside were 5 Valor tokens, which gave me my 50 Emblems of Valor achievement.  I was also outrolled on a gloves token that dropped.  I spent 25 of them on a Ring of Invincibility, which finally gave me full epic gear.  Good bye Mobius Band.

Then I started playing with WoWHead’s new profiler.  I loaded my stuff from the Armory, scrolled down, and there were all these red marks on my list of gear.  I had 7 things that weren’t enchanted.  So I went enchant shopping, and corrected that omission.

The last of those enchants that I bought took me to Icecrown for the Knights of the Ebon Blade head enchant.  I did the dailies there, just because I could, and then flew to the Argent Tournament Grounds.  I hate the Argent Tournament, but I’d been doing the non-mounted combat dailies, so I was able to the Gnomeregan Champion quest, and got the ‘of Gnomeregan’ title as well as my slaveboy.  I guess I’ve figured out how to defeat the mounted NPCs, but damn, it just kills my arm.  I get so focused on hitting the buttons to beat the guy, that my muscles just tense up and it feels like I’ve been lifting weights after about 5 fights.  I amazingly managed to defeat an Ironforge champion, so just 9 more factions to go for that achievement.

I headed back to Dalaran after the dailies reset and finished off the night with the 25 Dalaran Cooking Awards achievement.

Midsummer Fire Insanity

The Midsummer Fire Festival has rolled around again, and while last year it was all about getting my warrior from 56 to 59 in 7 hours, today it was about leveling my alts.

First I did the 16 new Northrend bonfires with Korby for some easy cash; downed Ahune.  Then the fishing bug bit me, and I decided to say hello to Mr. Pinchy.  I was not expecting this response.

Mr. Pinchy says hello!

Yeah, the pet on my first try, and then check out my bags over there.  Is that two of him?  Yeah.  I fished him up twice in a row, so I have 5 more clicks banked.  That was pretty cool.

Then I logged in Innoruuk and started moving him through Outland.  Innoruuk is 74, so the exp was 22k per Horde fire, and 11k per Alliance fire.  Note also that I equipped him with the heirloom shoulders that give 10% added exp to all quests.  Easily got him through Outland, then Kalimdor, and finally Eastern Kingdoms.  Then I took him to Northrend.  This was a little more difficult than when I did them with Korby, because Korby can fly.  I had to play “dodge the mobs” a little, but Innoruuk got the new 16 done with little excitement.  In total he gained about 95% exp.  Not quite as cool as the 3 levels Korby got out of it a year ago.  Also got about 320 gold in all.

I mailed the shoulders back to Aaeru and started to run her through Eastern Kingdoms (4k per Horde, 2k per Alliance).  In zones where level 37s generally don’t go, I stripped her naked except for the heirloom shoulders (which don’t take durability damage), and made beelines for the bonfires.  I was so impressed by the fact that she only died twice crossing Burning Steppes, that I wanted a REAL challenge.  So to Northrend we went.  Yeah, I took a high-30s character to a 68-80 continent.

I’ve run her from Valliance Keep to Amberpine Lodge, hitting 8 of the 16 fires, dying a total of 17 times along the way.  Amazingly, the easiest one to reach was going from the Horde fire in Borean Tundra to the pair of fires right in the middle of Sholazar.  Didn’t die once getting in there.  Maybe it’s just luck, or my 60% mount speed really did make a difference, but I was absolutely beside myself with giddiness when I hit that flightpoint alive.  It was the trip out of Borean to Dragonblight that was really killing me.  It took 8 deaths to go from the airstrip to the Horde fire near Stars Rest, the most hilarious deaths coming from birds swooping down from the sky and killing me.  I was able to use Spirit Healers to bounce myself across the zone to Wyrmsrest Temple (some Reanimated Frost Wyrms helped), and then made a successful deathless run for Grizzly Hills.  I’m also picking up 505 exp with each map area I uncover, so in my eyes, it’s very much worth all the dying I’m doing.  She’s gained 1 level so far, and I should absolutely have her to 40 by the time I’m done, and that’s not even considering doing Outland with her, which is looking tempting if I’m having such an easy time with Northrend.

Yay, I got my Spirit of Competition pet from a WSG game tonight. It was quite possibly the most ANNOYING WSG I’ve played too. I mean, WSG is always a pain in the ass because the Alliance almost never wins in my battlegroup. This time however we had a good group of people…maybe a little too good. This lvl 69 gnome warrior was the reason we won and kept our flag secure, and was also the biggest pain in the ass. She’d keep running into the Horde base, grabbing the flag, and then messing around in the middle of the battlefield killing the Horde carrier and not even trying to run back to base to cap it. We were all yelling at her to cap it, but she didn’t say anything, which led a lot of us to believe that she was either two-boxing both as Alliance and Horde, or was just an idiot. Turns out it was the latter, as she started whining about how she wanted honor points by making the Horde come at her. Forget the honor points lady, WSG is the daily and I had 10k exp waiting for me when we win, plus I was still trying to get my little gold medal pet before the Olympics ended tomorrow. So we stopped helping her, not healing or anything, and she died and we capped twice more after that and won. She didn’t quit on us though, which was nice, but man she was annoying as hell. I have 28 WSG tokens, and I’m sure I’ve only won maybe 3 or 4 of them total, so you do the math and that works out to about 16 or 19 losses. I’ll stick to AV from now on since that one seems to favor Alliance in wins and gives a load more honor in the process.
